Poland Article # 3 – Andrew Ziemer –
13:00pm , German time, September 5th
Hello all,
I woke up this morning and found this news online.
Could be interesting for coach Leo Beenhakker and the blog.
I shared it with him this morning. He was at the U20 World
Cup in Canada and said he would check further into Szetela.
I forwarded him the e-mail below.
SZETELA SIGNS WITH LA LIGA’S RACING SANTANDER: U.S. Under-20
Men’s National Team midfielder Danny Szetela has signed with
La Liga’s Racing Santander, and is currently going through
physicals before joining the team. The 20-year-old former
member of the Columbus Crew was one of the stars of the
recent FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Canada, scoring three
goals in the team’s run to the quarterfinals, including the
USA’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with South Korea and two
against Poland in a 6-1 victory. Szetela, who holds a Polish
passport through his parents, becomes the third member of
the Under-20 squad to sign an overseas contract, joining
teammates Freddy Adu (Benfica) and Sal Zizzo (Hannover 96)
in Europe.
